Ricco Deruta Deluxe: Concave Deluxe Mug (12 oz.)

The town of Deruta, perched on a medieval hilltop in Italy, has been the world's benchmark for exceptional pottery since the 12th century. DERUTA OF ITALY channels this storied legacy directly into contemporary tableware. The Ricco pattern—whose name means "rich" in Italian—stands as the collection's most iconic motif, rooted in designs that emerged during the Renaissance, roughly 500 years ago.

Master artisans hand-paint each piece using the same techniques passed down through generations. The design draws visual inspiration from the frescoed masterworks of Pietro Perugino, featuring elaborate scrollwork and botanical flourishes rendered in period-authentic hues: deep royal blue, warm yellow gold, and luminous emerald green. These colors create striking visual depth that makes this coffee mug a natural centerpiece for any kitchen or dining environment.

Every surface that contacts your beverage meets strict food safety standards through 100% food-grade glazes and pigments. The earthenware construction—a time-honored ceramic approach—delivers both durability and authentic weight in your hand. Cleanup is straightforward: dishwasher-safe design means minimal effort after use.

For best results, hand-washing is recommended to preserve the hand-painted details. Avoid microwave heating, as the ceramic retains intense thermal energy.

Is the DERUTA OF ITALY RICCO DERUTA DELUXE Concave Deluxe Mug suitable for hot beverages?
Yes. This ceramic mug is designed to hold hot tea, coffee, and other heated drinks. Note that the ceramic itself will become quite warm, so handle with care using the concave form as a natural grip point.

Can I use the DERUTA OF ITALY RICCO DERUTA DELUXE Concave Deluxe Mug in a microwave or dishwasher?
The piece is dishwasher-safe for convenient cleaning. However, microwave use is not recommended, as the ceramic becomes extremely hot and the hand-painted decoration may be affected by direct heat exposure.

What makes this Italian ceramic different from mass-produced mugs available elsewhere?
DERUTA OF ITALY pieces are individually hand-painted by master ceramicists using traditional methods and authentic Renaissance colors. The Ricco pattern represents 500+ years of continuous design heritage from Italy's most celebrated pottery region, making each vessel a genuine artisan creation rather than a machine-produced copy.
