Inoue Tea Yixing Tokusa Red Tokoname-yaki Kyusu - Japanese Teapot
$40.00
In Japan, the rich history of teapots dates back to the Muromachi period (1336-1573), with Yixing teapots being imported and used extensively until the Meiji period (1868-1912). The Edo period (1603-1867) marked the rise of the Yokote teapot, which underwent various transformations over the years. The contemporary Yokote teapots were crafted after the Edo period, establishing themselves as the quintessential Japanese tea containers, commonly known as kyusu (teapot). Tokoname is celebrated as one of the six oldest kilns in Japan, a historic pottery city with a legacy that spans over 1000 years.
Tokoname-yaki 常滑焼 is a distinguished form of ceramic pottery originating from the Tokoname area in Aichi prefecture. This revered craftsmanship exemplifies the artisanal traditions of one of Japan's Six Ancient Kilns.
This exquisite teapot includes a finely crafted mesh strainer, expertly designed to prevent tea leaves from escaping during the infusion process. This feature guarantees that the efficiency of the tea strainer is maintained, regardless of the movement of the tea leaves within the kyusu.
Kyusu (急須) are traditional Japanese teapots made from premium fired volcanic clay. While the term "kyusu" simply translates to teapot, it specifically refers to a teapot featuring a convenient side handle, enhancing the brewing experience.
