Inoue Tea Shuiro Red Tokoname-yaki Kyusu - Japanese Teapot

Tokoname-yaki, known as one of the six oldest kilns in Japan, has a celebrated history of over 1,000 years in pottery craftsmanship. This exquisite ceramic pottery is produced in the Tokoname region of Aichi Prefecture, embodying a revered traditional art that traces its roots to one of Japan's Six Ancient Kilns.

The history of Yixing teapots in Japan can be traced back to the Muromachi period (1336-1573) and continued through the Meiji period (1868-1912). The Edo period (1603-1867) saw the rise of the Yokote teapot, with contemporary versions coming into existence after this time. These teapots have become essential vessels for Japanese tea and are commonly known as kyusu.

This kyusu is designed with a built-in mesh strainer that effectively prevents tea leaves from escaping during the steeping process. Its thoughtful design ensures that the functionality of the strainer remains intact, regardless of the position of the tea leaves within the teapot.
