Banko-yaki is a fascinating traditional ceramic technique originating from Japan, renowned for its deep-rooted history and artistic expression. This craft, which began in the 18th century, gained recognition when the merchant Nunami Rouzan inscribed the term bankofueki, meaning "eternity, constancy," on earthenware made in Yokkaichi. Yokkaichi banko ware, referred to as Yokkaichi banko yaki in Japanese, exemplifies exceptional ceramic artistry from Yokkaichi in Mie Prefecture. It is celebrated for its remarkable heat resistance and stunning organic aesthetic.
Kyusu are traditional Japanese teapots crafted from high-quality fired volcanic clay. The term "Kyusu" translates to teapot; however, it is often specifically associated with teapots that feature a side handle, enhancing the steeping experience.
